For Grantmakers

You invest in missions that matter. We help you invest in the people who make those missions possible. The wellbeing of nonprofit staff directly impacts the sustainability and effectiveness of your nonprofit partners. When they are supported, the entire ecosystem thrives. See the different ways you can partner with us below:

  • Understand nonprofit needs

Our assessments uncover the collective wellbeing and capacity needs of your grantee partners. We analyze what’s working, where there are gaps, and what supports are most needed to guide you in offering support within and beyond the check.

  • Co-create solutions

We work with you to design pilot programs, retreats, and shared learning spaces that center wellbeing as a path to sustainability for your nonprofit partners. These experiences create ample space for connection, reflection, and renewal.

  • Invest in learning and storytelling

We provide opportunities for grantmakers to underwrite narrative-shifting and storytelling projects that elevate the voices of nonprofit professionals that are reimagining their work with care and wellbeing at the center.

FAQs

  • We offer nonprofit organizational effectiveness and resilience support. This includes in-house direct services (leadership & wellbeing coaching, strategic and philanthropic advising, staff retreats), as well as community building and narrative-shifting efforts (speaker engagements, podcast appearances, community events).

NACIS Codes: Our strategic consulting (541611) and professional and management development (611430) offers integrated guidance, coaching, and capacity-building programs across the nonprofit and social impact sectors.

  • Our direct services are for nonprofit and social impact professionals--those who are leading mission-driven organizations and are facing challenges like staff burnout and high turnover, or want to build more sustainable practices. We partner with grantmakers, philanthropists, local government, community-based organizations, higher education institutions, small businesses, and corporations to mobilize and implement wellbeing investments to nonprofits.

  • First and foremost, we treat wellbeing as a core condition for organizational resilience, and a core condition for equity and impact. All of our work is informed by liberatory practices and the wisdom of lived expertise; creating accessible spaces for healing and restoration; and unapologetically partnering with resource holders to help disrupt the nonprofit industrial complex. While our work is informed by theories and methodologies, we do not coach, consult, or facilitate within the same cookie-cutter framework. Our work is relational and is always created to support the unique needs of whoever is in the room.

  • Do Good Leadership Collective is led by our Founder, Loretta Turner. She will be your first point of contact, and in most cases, the main coach or facilitator that you will work with. Do Good is made up of a collective of hand-selected and highly trained coaches, mentors, consultants, healers, and strategists that may be engaged in your project depending on the scope.

  • We are based in San Diego, CA, where we are deeply connected to the nonprofit community. We host the majority of our in-person community events in San Diego. However, our services can be offered virtually and we travel the United States frequently to support nonprofits and grantmaking organizations--including traveling to the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) at least two times per year.

At the time of this writing (November 2025), we have supported 32 nonprofits across 10 states; coached 80 individual leaders; and provided over 70 facilitations (workshops and retreats).

  • If you’re seeing signs like burnout, staff conflict, high turnover, low morale, or the desire for more collective care and sustainable practices, those are good indicators that you’re ready. It is never too early (or too late) to start integrating wellbeing practices into your organization.

  • Costs depend on the scope of the project, location, and desired format of what you need (e.g. one time workshop vs long-term coaching). We encourage you to submit an inquiry where we can provide a more specific cost estimate. Our ballpark of hourly support ranges from $150-250 per hour.

  • All of our engagements begin with time to get to know one another and ask meaningful questions before the work begins. Whenever possible, we start by partnering with an organization’s decision-makers to ensure that leadership alignment is in place before extending support to teams and staff.

We value accountability as a mutual practice: you can expect us to hold ourselves accountable to your goals, and we’ll invite the same from you and your team. Feedback is part of our rhythm, and we’ll ask for it throughout our work together.

We are also committed to actively dismantling characteristics of white supremacy culture in our approach. This means we:

    • Move at the speed of trust, not urgency

    • Aim for good and grounded, not perfection

    • Embrace both/andthinking over either/or

    • Welcome honest dialogue instead of defensiveness

    • Approach conflict as opportunity, not fear

All of our engagements end with ample opportunity to provide honest feedback on our time together, along with thorough and high impact deliverables that ensure you’re able to confidently take the next steps.

  • Outcomes vary depending on what you invest in, but often clients report improved staff sense of wellbeing (as defined by staff), improved leadership confidence, reduced turnover, improved morale, and clearer alignment between people and organizational strategy.

Our timelines depend on the depth of transformation that is requested within the project. We are intentional with our project scopes, making them as realistic and feasible as possible. We will always be transparent about when and why we believe a project timeline or scope needs to change. On average, most organizations work with us for at least six months.
